About Us

Stewards of the Land Brewery is a true Connecticut farm brewery that takes you back to a time when taverns brewed their beer with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. We are the latest addition to the DeFrancesco Family Farm, which brings you five generations of experience in sustainably cultivating the land.

The old saying goes, “if you want to make good pizza, you need good water.” The same is true for beer! We brew our small-batch beers using the Farm River aquifer. We also use twenty classic and new varieties of hops cultivated in CT, MA, & NY.

As a true farm brewery, at least 25% of our ingredients by volume are grown within the state of CT, (use to be 50% mandate by law); and each batch is made of local ingredients including to but not limited to, malts, hops, fruits, honey, maple syrup, herbs, peppers, winter squash, and more. To date, there is no other Connecticut brewery that uses predominantly locally-grown ingredients.

For ingredients that we do not produce, we turn to other Connecticut, Massachusetts, & New York farmers with whom we’ve worked for years to develop products of the highest quality. You can enjoy our beer knowing that you are supporting the environment and the local community.

From our farm to your glass - cheers!
